Regents professor to be honored at NMSU Scholarly Excellence Rally

New Mexico State University will host a Scholarly Excellence Rally honoring Regents Professor Elba Serrano for her work with the Minority Biomedical Research Support-Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (MBRS-RISE) program.

Serrano and her co-investigators (Shelley Lusetti, chemistry and biochemistry; Graciela Unguez, biology; Kathryn Hanley, biology; Jessica Houston, chemical engineering; Boris Kiefer, physics; and Karen Villaverde, computer science) were recently granted an extension for the program, now in its 14th year at NMSU.

After introductory remarks by President Garrey Carruthers, Serrano will present an overview of the RISE program and introduce project colleagues. At 9 a.m., she will be available to answer questions. Light refreshments will be served after the
