Dr. Enrico Pontelli – is Associate Dean for Planning and Academic Resources in the College of Arts and Sciences at NMSU. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at New Mexico State University in 1997. In the same year, he joined New Mexico State Univesity as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. He was promoted to Full Professor in 2005; he was granted the title of Distinguished Achievement Professor in 2012 and a Regents Professorship in 2014. He served as Head of the Department of Computer Science from 2009 to 2014.
Dr. Pontelli's research interests are in the general areas of artificial intelligence, high performance computing, bioinformatics and assistive technologies. He is the recipient of a NSF Career award. He authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications. He served as member of the executive committee of the Association for Logic Programming, one term as vice-president of the ACM Special Interest Group on Computers and Accessibility and he is currently a member of the editorial board of the ACM Transactions on Accessible Computing. He has raised as principal investigator over $13M in research funding over the years.
