Kelley S. Hestir is the Lead Academic Advisor for the Advising Center in the College of Arts and Sciences. She specializes in advising students who are exploring majors and those experiencing academic challenges. She served as the NMSU Catalog Editor from 2004-2006, then as program coordinator and academic adviser for the new undergraduate interdisciplinary and Creative Media degree programs. Since joining the College of Arts and Sciences in 2013, she has focused on developing innovative exploratory major opportunities, offering student-at-risk learning programs for undergraduates, and is committed to helping each student accomplish academic and professional goals.
Kelley graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Hawai’i where she taught sculpture for six years. In 2012 she received the Doña Ana Arts Council Arts in Public Places award for the “Bataan Death March Memorial” at Veteran’s Park in Las Cruces. Kelley continues to exhibit, teach, participate in and support community arts, animal welfare and sustainability.
