We invite you to attend the first event of a new initiative at NMSU: the Big Tree Ideas Salon! Funded by the NMSU College of Arts & Sciences, CMI and the Art Department, the Big Tree Ideas Salon is designed to foster dialogue, connections, and collaborations across disciplines. At each salon, we'll have four speakers from NMSU and the larger Las Cruces community give 6-minute flash talks on a given theme. Our first theme is Resilience: From the Earth to the Stars!  Q&A and discussion to follow the talks.

Speakers in The Resilience Salon: From the Earth to the Stars:

  • Assistant Professor of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Ms. Rachel Gioannini, speaking about the resilience of plants.
  • Ms. Diana O'Brien (from Jardin de Los Ninos) speaking about resilience of families and communities.
  • Government Professor and Dpt Head of Government, Dr. Neil Harvey, speaking about the resilience of democracy.
  • Apache Point Observatory astronomer, Dr. Karen Kinemuchi, speaking about the resilience of stars.
