American Southwest Children’s Theatre Company launches spring classes

New Mexico State University creative dramatics associate professor Larissa Lury and her student teachers will lead first through third graders in weekly after-school drama classes at the American Southwest Children’s Theatre Company.

Lury has taught drama in schools and theater programs throughout the country, including New York City, upstate New York, New Jersey, Chicago and San Diego. The student teachers bring a combined knowledge of education and theater.

Classes begin on Wednesday, March 11, for 4th through 6th graders and on Monday, March 16, for 1st through 3rd graders.

The ASCTC classes will focus on creative exploration. Students will be able to explore new stories each week and learn drama skills that emphasize imagination, critical thinking and collaboration.
