Heather Salopek, entrepreneur and owner of Legacy Pecans, is deeply rooted in the Mesilla Valley, as she is a fourth-generation New Mexican. She lived in Texas for the past 6 years where she received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Agriculture degrees from Texas A&M University. In conjunction with the Norman Borlaug Institute of International Agriculture, Heather helped build sustainable gardens in several communities throughout the Guatemalan highlands. After representing the US Pecan industry in Dubai, Paris and China, Heather decided to return to the her roots where she started her own gourmet pecan and corporate gifting business. As a member of the Junior League of Las Cruces, Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce, NMSU College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Council and Las Cruces Young Professionals, she strives to serve and give back to the community that she calls family.
