J. Paul Taylor

J. Paul Taylor, former state representative with 20 years in state office, is a renowned arts advocate. He and his wife Mary donated the family’s 150-year-old home as a state monument, which includes an extensive collection of Spanish colonial, Mexican and New Mexican artwork, as well as religious and folk art. He has been instrumental to the success of several key pieces of legislation, including financial support to begin conservation of the retablo and ex-voto collection of the NMSU Art Gallery — considered the largest public collection of such religious images in the United States.
