A third-generation New Mexican, Sheila and her sisters are partners in a business started by their father thirty years ago, with the goal of providing low-income housing to an underserved population in eastern New Mexico. Sheila had a successful career in residential real estate before moving to Las Cruces. Sheila’s life is built around service and her faith. She serves on the board of Border Servant Corp, supports the La Casa Domestic Violence Shelter, and encourages women’s education as chairman of the P.E.O. International Projects Committee for New Mexico. She has been active in women’s Bible studies for over thirty years. Married for forty years to her husband, Bob, she is the mother of three amazing daughters, and is the Best Freakin’ Mimi Ever to four grandchildren and has the t-shirt to prove it! A graduate of Eastern New Mexico University, she is a long-time proponent of higher education in New Mexico. As a member of the community and a proud Aggie Mom, she looks forward to being more involved with and supportive of this vibrant university.
